Banish Misfortune is the first album I made at my home studio, officially called Sound Of Solar (we have solar panels on the roof!) My period of electronic music production (2005-2017) has contributed to the sound of this album but it’s the acoustic guitars and mandolin that take centre stage. I’ve added effects, synth, bass, mandola and electric and Spanish guitars. Guest vocals are from Karen Turner who appears on a couple of tracks. The CD has a limited edition cardboard sleeve.

Sounds Like Summer was recorded in 2015 at various locations in Somerset and then mixed and produced at Sound Of Solar. I was playing my first gigs (2013) as a solo live-looper and was often joined by David Hatfield on bass and Sven Krúsel on percussion. We did a lot of gigs as the Jon Maybey Trio including Glastonbury festival, Shambala and many local festivals and events in Somerset. There were memorable gigs in Ibiza! I’m playing a Line-6 Variax acoustic guitar and my old Crafter semi-acoustic mandolin. There are a couple of over-dubbed additions played on my trusted Taylor acoustic.
